There is nothing intelligent about intelligent design. It is just an attempt to make a sciencey-sounding pseudoscience as a compromise between science and religion, to make a fuzzy, wrong, PC version of evolution and to get creationism's foot in the door. The problem is, when it comes to science, there can be no compromise with fairy tales, and the science curriculum should not change because some deluded people deny it. What next, not being able to teach the "Round Earth Theory" because the Flat Earth Society objects with the worst bit of "science" (or possibly best bit of satire) I have ever seen.
If I ever see a textbook with a sticker saying "This textbook contains materials on the round earth theory. A round earth is a theory, not a fact, regarding the shape of the earth. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully and critically considered."
How about we start a movement to put stickers on Bibles? "This Bible contains materials on the theory of creationism. The theory of creationism is a theory, not a fact, regarding the origin of things. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully and critically considered."
I think one of the big problems is the difference between a theory and a hypothesis, and that the right is trying to convince us that the word theory in the Theory of Evolution is something more like a hypothesis or a hunch.
Haha!
Let's start a movement to put stickers on bibles:
"This book is a myth, rife with contradictions and immoral acts. It should not be taken literally."
Great idea Latour.
