More Nails in the Coffin of Intelligent Design

Science and Theology News has a news bit on the (not quite) "irreducibly complex" blood clotting system. Michael Behe won't be using this as an example of IC anymore, I think.
The political winds are shifting against ID as well. Wisconsin is considering a bill to ban ID in public schools, while the Ohio schoolboard is changing language in their education standards that allowed ID in the classroom.
If the battle over ID continues, it will be a political one in states like Kentucky and Utah, which have a strong religious history or laws already on the books that are favorable to religious teachings.
Daniel at A Concerned Scientist scooped me on this. Check out his blog.
Edit: It looks like the anti-Id (or should that be "pro-science"?) crowd is preparing for a counter offensive, according to this article.
Pay attention to the Discovery Center's response. Did they, say, offer us more evidence supporting ID? Nope. Did they, perhaps, publish some experimental results that confirm their hypotheses? Nope. Did they, possibly, release a list of new papers supporting their "scientific theory of ID", recently published in peer reviewed journals across the world? Nope.
So what did they do? They issued a press release.
That's science American style for you. 'Nuff said.
Final edit, I swear: RA over at Biblioblography has a thoughtful and humourous refutation of Paley's watchmaker analogy (which analogy is a major philosophical underpinning of Intelligent Design). Check it out.
