Here are a few more things that are interesting in light of my previous post.
It seems to be a sore point among ID theorists and creationists that man might have evolved from apes. Of course, if you were concerned about whether you were related to the "colored" races, you would want to disprove common descent.
I'm not saying that Dembski et al are racists. However, the idea of a special creation of man does lend itself to Christian theology and morality, and it places man above the rest of the animal kingdom.
It is only a short leap from the special creation of mankind, to the special creation of the white race, or to the special creation of America.
It is a very short leap to the Dominionist idea that man was created to lord over the earth and all its creatures.
